STATUTORY OVERVIEW

Direct Tax Compliances, Advance Tax & Due Diligence

Corporate entities, business enterprises, and individual taxpayers operate within a structured calendar of statutory direct tax deadlines governed by the Income-tax Act, 2025 and transition rules under the Income-tax Act, 1961. Failure to anticipate quarterly tax obligations or adhere to procedural mandates can lead to mandatory penal interest (formerly Sections 234A, 234B, and 234C), late filing fees (formerly Section 234F), and operational disruptions. Our direct tax compliance practice assists organizations in implementing disciplined compliance workflows, accurately forecasting advance tax liabilities, managing SFT disclosures, and conducting comprehensive direct tax health checks.

Quarter 3 (December 15th): Review of mid-year operating margins and payment of not less than 75% of liability
Quarter 4 (March 15th): Final reconciliation of full-year income and payment of 100% of assessed tax liability

For corporate entities and business enterprises, tracking high-value transactions against reported books is necessary to ensure complete consistency with AIS/TIS portal data.

Form 61B Compliance: Due diligence and reporting under FATCA and Common Reporting Standard (CRS) for financial institutions

However, if there was a shortfall in the earlier installments due on June 15, Sept 15, or Dec 15, interest under Section 234C will continue to apply for those specific quarter deferrals.
