Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) Applications, RBI Requirements & Annual Renewal
The Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) is a 20-character alphanumeric code based on the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 17442) standard, designed to create clear and unique identification of legal entities participating in global financial transactions. In India, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) have made LEI codes strictly mandatory for non-individual entities with total bank credit exposures exceeding Rs. 5 Crores, all single cross-border transactions of Rs. 50 Crores and above in RTGS/NEFT, and corporate bond issuances. Without an active and renewed LEI code, commercial banks are legally prohibited from renewing credit facilities or executing high-value overseas wire transfers. Our LEI advisory delivers rapid 24-hour issuance and managed annual renewals.
